St. John's-Grace in Our Own Words

Here's what members of our church have said when asked "What does St. John's-Grace mean to you?"

"St. John's-Grace is my spiritual home, my spiritual center, my ‘family,' a source of strength and support. It is a place of healing, worship, passion, prayer, support, enthusiasm and fun. It is warmth, safety, sanctuary, friendship, letting go of stress, reliable, sharing, breaking bread, nourishing, a good place to be. It is wonderful caring people who have become good friends. St. John's-Grace is a place both traditional and new, thought-provoking, with beautiful music and a community conscience, and host to many recovery groups. It nourishes my soul, enriches my life, increases my relationships, enlivens my gifts. It is a sense of peace. You can feel the grace of God in the way people participate in the service, all are welcome to the communion table and the peace is passed enthusiastically.

"St. John's-Grace is a diverse church which welcomes everyone with unqualified acceptance. It embraces each person's unique experience of God and Christ. It feels like big welcoming arms. It's a place where nobody judges you. Each person is treated equally. I feel a special loved person here.

"St. John's-Grace is where my roots are. I've found a welcoming I have never had before, life with Jesus, serenity and peace. It is the place where I am most at ease and comfortable. St. John's-Grace has been there when I was in my trouble years and it is there for me now. It is always there - in times of sorrow and joy - supportive and rejoicing.

"St. John's-Grace is people to share my faith with. It is a place to explore my spiritual side, reflect on my relationship with God and see old friends who are on their own spiritual journeys. I feel the presence of Christ. We are challenged to live out our common call to be Christ to the world, to answer humankind's calling to evolve spiritually. We are looking to the future and willing to change to meet each other's needs. St. John's-Grace is a place to grow as a leader, where I feel challenged personally by my involvement.

"St. John's-Grace is clowns, potlucks, and healing services, support and acceptance in all that I do and all that I am. It is grace, hope, peace, comfort, joy, safety, silence, and love."
